Carbon
offsetting is an important component to any environmental strategy. It
provides the opportunity to take measured action now.
The Stay
here CO2 Footprint Free add-on
is offered as a voluntary action for the guests
to off-set the carbon emissions associated with their stay.
Carbon
credits certify the removal, reduction or prevention of greenhouse gas
emissions from the air. Each carbon credit is associated with a single tonne
of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e).
Basically
it is paying someone else to reduce, remove, or prevent the emission of CO2
equivalent to the amount you wish to purchase to offset your own emissions
otherwise unable to be averted.
A carbon
credits come from investment in to technology or environmental programs that
would not otherwise be established if it was not for the reason of generating
Carbon Credits.
The carbon
credits are only issued after multiple rigorous processes of independent
verification and
audit conducted yearly to monitor the performance of a
project
here are several kinds of internationally
recognized carbon credit standards.
Carbonza only uses Carbon Credits registered on the National Environment
Registry and verified to the international
UN CDM, VCS, or Australian Greenhouse Friendly standards
The Carbon
Credits are then 'retired' for the purpose of off-setting the guest's carbon
footprint and the NER issue certificates as proof of
this action.
